Caritas MONA Joint Partners Meeting Strengthens Regional Collaboration
Tunis, Tunisia | 7–8 May 2026
Caritas MONA convened the third Joint Partners Meeting for North Africa and the Horn of Africa, bringing together member organizations from Algeria, Djibouti, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, and Tunisia, alongside international partners from Caritas France, Caritas Spain, Caritas Italiana, and Caritas Internationalis.
Over two days, participants exchanged updates on humanitarian and ecclesial realities across the region, addressing challenges such as migration, conflict, shrinking humanitarian funding, climate change, and institutional sustainability. Discussions also explored the evolving geopolitical context and its implications for humanitarian action.
A key focus of the meeting was strengthening partnerships through the Caritas Internationalis Partnership Principles and Modus Operandi (PPMO 2025–2027), promoting mutual learning, recognition of local expertise, and long-term collaboration.
Participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to reinforcing regional cooperation, supporting local Churches in their mission of service, and advancing sustainable, locally driven humanitarian responses. The meeting concluded with a renewed vision of solidarity and partnership, grounded in the values and mission of the Caritas Confederation.
