Somalia

A world where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon, where each person is free to flourish and live in peace and dignity. We work with people of all faiths and with those who have none, in favor of minorities and people living in poverty. Caritas Somalia’s mission is to end poverty, promote social justice and uphold human dignity. Also, it responds to catastrophes such as drought, floods, famine and armed conflicts.

PROGRAMS

Enviroment

Caritas Somalia is implementing sustainable farming practices, with a focus on permaculture techniques, to protect the environment. By teaching these eco-friendly agricultural methods, they help communities develop stronger food security, become more independent in their farming practices, preserve local ecosystems and provide communities with sustainable solutions for long-term agricultural success and economic stability.

Emergency Response

During times of crisis caused by natural disasters, including severe droughts and devastating floods Caritas Somalia takes swift action to
support affected populations by distributing critical resources such as food provisions, clean drinking water, and other vital supplies to communities in need. Through strong collaboration with local organizations on the ground the relief efforts provide immediate support to vulnerable populations during challenging times.

Education

In Digaale and Daami IDP camps, Caritas Somalia ensures underprivileged children can access quality education by providing essential school supplies, morning meals, and transportation assistance. This holistic approach not only addresses immediate educational needs but also contributes to the long-erm development and well-being of children living in displacement.

Women Empowerment

Caritas Somalia supports women’s economic independence through various initiatives that include skills training and business development programs. They provide young Somalis with practical education in areas such as tailoring and construction, alongside other vocational skills that help create pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
