Our Strategy

Guided by the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching, Caritas MONA’s Strategic Framework 2020–2023 defines the regional priorities that unite its fifteen member organizations across the Middle East, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa.

Our strategy focuses on cooperation, solidarity, and professional growth — ensuring that each Caritas organization strengthens its capacity to serve the poor, promote justice, and foster peace in diverse societies.

“Let’s work together to increase solidarity and sharing. Cooperation helps to build better and more peaceful societies.”
Pope Francis

In its new Strategy Framework (SF) 2024-2030, Caritas MONA has determined 4 Strategic Orientations (SO)

SO1: CARITAS is at the heart of the church

SO2: CARITAS promotes Emergency Response, Integral Human Development (IHD), and Peace and Reconciliation in the communities

SO3: CARITAS builds global solidarity

SO4: CARITAS is a professional network

The implementation of Caritas MONA’s strategy relies on close collaboration between the Regional Secretariat, Member Organizations, and partners.

Working groups, communities of practice, and training programs ensure that each orientation translates into action on the ground — promoting learning, sharing, and accountability across the region.

All our strategic orientations are rooted in:

  • Innovation and partnership
  • Laudato Si’ and ecological conversion
  • Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Youth engagement and leadership
