CSP Project in Zakho – Iraq

From 29 September till the second of October 2025, Caritas MONA organized a regional capacity-building workshop in Zakho Iraq, with the support of Caritas Iraq, involving Caritas member organizations from the Middle East, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa.

The workshop, facilitated by Mrs. Moira Monacelli, from Caritas Internationalis @iamcaritas aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of Caritas’s identity, Catholic social teaching, synodality, and partnership principles in a collaborative and engaging environment, where they could learn, strengthen skills, and exchange experiences.

During the workshops, participants had the opportunity to meet with the priests in charge of the Chaldean Church and representatives from local authorities, demonstrating solidarity with Caritas’s work. They also conducted a site visit to the Caritas Zakho center, where they learned about its services and initiatives aimed at serving the displaced vulnerable households, and supporting local communities.
